The Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation ‘The Renaissance of the Dance Art’ in cooperation with the St. Petersburg Committee for City Planning and Architecture and the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Artists of Russia announce the start of the open competition for the best monument design the distinguished choreographer Marius Petipa.
The competition is managed by the Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation ‘The Renaissance of the Dance Art.’
The competition is open. Russian and international professional artists, sculptors, architects, their unions and creative associations are encouraged to take part in the competition.
According to the competition guidelines the Marius Petipa monument may be designed as a bust or a memorial sign incorporating sculptural and relief elements.
The perspective monument location is Ostrovsky square, by the entrance of the Theater Museum, along the east wing axis of the square (nearby the Vaganova Academy of the Russian Ballet).
The competition is launched on March 11, 2008. Closing date for receipt of submissions if April 25, 2008 (Submissions will not be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on this date).
The exhibition of the submitted designs will open on April, 29 2008, the International Dance Day.
Competition submissions should be mailed to the address of the Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation: Petrogradskaya emb. 18À, Office 408 St. Petersburg Russia 197046. Submissions can be hand delivered to the Foundation or mailed (mail notification together with the copy of the postal receipt are required.)
The Marius Petipa monument will be constructed and erected on charitable contributions from individuals and legal entities. We invite philanthropists and all parties who are interested in sponsorship participation to cooperate within the framework of the project.
