Within the framework of the program the Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation invites world renowned ballet teachers to conduct master-classes in St. Petersburg. The curriculum will cover various disciplines including classical ballet, modern dance, and choreography. In process of communication and cooperation with world-acclaimed ballet masters participants will get the opportunity to perfect their dance technique and enrich artistic individuality. The master-classes program provides for open master-classes as well as individual classes.
Professional ballet artists as well as students of senior courses of ballet schools are eligible to take part in master-classes.
16 – 23 October 2007 – the first master-class is given by Jennifer Goube, prima-ballerina of Opera National de Paris, director and teacher of Centre de Danse de Paris Goube. The target group of the master-classes became ballet artists of the St. Petersburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M.P. Musorgsky – the Mikhailovsky Theater. The master-class program included seven classes, out of which one was open to general public.
10 – 16 December 2007 – the master-class of Stephen Prince, principle dancer of Opera National de Paris, professor of classical dance of Centre de Danse de Paris Goube, Etoile. The master-class will be primarily intended for male dancers as the main target group.
11 – 17 February 2007 – the master-class of Gilbert Mayer, principle dancer and professor of Opera National de Paris, artistic director, historian and theoretician of dance.
10 – 16 March 2008 – the master-class of Jean-Guillaume Bart.
19 – 25 May 2008 – the master-class of Cyril Atanasoff.
October 2008 – the master-class of Claude Bessy, principle dancer of Opera National de Paris, director of the Paris Opera Ballet School.
About Centre de Danse de Paris Goube
Centre de Danse de Paris Goube was founded by Paul Goube and Yvonne Alexander Goube, who later transferred the directorship to their daughter, Jennifer. At present the Goube Center is recognized as the leading study center for dance in France. The school curriculum, as of the first multidisciplinary study center, comprises courses in classical and modern dance, jazz and hip-hop, and offers a wide range of programs to professional dancers as well as amateurs of any age. The school walls witnessed visits of many renowned artists including Rudolf Noureev, Mikhail Barychnikov, Loipa Araujo, Rudy Bryans and other Etoiles, who contributed to the Center’s development at various times. The teachers of the Center give ballet master-classes all over the world.
Teachers
Jennifer Goube becomes prima-ballerina of Opera National de Paris at the age of 20. In 1986 she joins the Hamburg Ballet by invitation of John Neumeier and until 1991 performs the leading roles of the company’s repertoire. Jennifer Goube has significant pedagogical experience. In 1995 she takes over directorship of Opera National de Paris founded by her parents in 1969 and in 1998 becomes artistic director of her own ballet company. At present Jennifer makes tours and teaches master-classes in the leading choreographic and dance centers in many countries including Europe, Russia, the USA, Japan, South Korea, etc.
Claude Bessy, a student of Serge Lifar, principle dancer of Opera National de Paris, director of the Paris Opera Ballet School, choreographer, author of books (“Dancer-Star” and “Dance and Child”), Officer of Honoured Legion Order. Claude Bessy has been holding the directorship of the Paris Opera Ballet School since 1972. She is famous for her aspiration to open the doors of the Paris Opera Ballet School to modern dance. Due to her efforts one of the world’s oldest ballet schools has been developing into the contemporary study center open to teachers from all over the world. As a choreographer she staged ballets “Play Bakh”, «Studio 60», “Ants“, “Motions“, “Concert in D”.
